Trip to Boston

The kids had fall break this past week. Lane had to stay home because of football, but Spencer and Bree were able to go to Boston and see Jessica, Dan, Mckenzie and Abby. They had a lot of fun. Here's some pictures from their trip.

Mckenzie having fun with her Aunt Bree.

Jessica and Spencer at the Patriots/Broncos game.

Spencer at the docks in Nantucket waiting to go fishing (they didn't catch any worth mentioning)

Abby at the docks

Mckenzie at the toy store

Abby and Bree playing on the beach.

Spencer was a great "horsey".

Bree picked out Mckenzie and Abby's costumes, so we had fun trying them on.

They sure love their Aunt Bree

Bree and I came home the other day, just before dusk and this young buck was just west of
the wood pile near the house. He didn't seem to mind how close we were to him.

I turned onto I-25 tonight headed to a Inservice meeting and up popped a tornado. The traffic was so slow with cars stopping to take pictures and I was running late so I turned onto the frontage road a few miles south of Castle Rock. I am driving directly towards the tornado, but it was at least 3 miles north.

Max's email is maximumbastian@myldsmail.net. He checks it on Tuesday.

Max's missionary setting apart at President Polson's home. Picture includes Max, his dad, Grandpa Max Bastian, Uncle Glenn and Uncle Kevin.
Max wanted lots of pictures of all of his favorite things. This picture is of Max with his horse "Cloud." Grandpa Bastian worked closely with Max over the past few years learning about horses. A great gift from his grandpa. Max has become an accomplished rider and takes great care of Cloud.
The day before Max left for the MTC. Not only does he love his 2001 Dodge Dakota
truck, but he also loves his Denver Bronco's (note his license plate).
Max with Ceanna. Ceanna is 14 years old. Max was only 5 years old when we go her and Rumbo.
She is getting old and struggling to get around. Max loves her.

Max saying good-bye to his little brother, Spencer. He will entire the MTC one week from today.

Lane's first injury of the season. He was
accidently cleated by another player on his own team.
Lane's first NFC football practice. It is exciting playing at the highest level of football.

Welcome to the Bastian Family Blog

The Bastian family is now online! My mom (Melanie) wanted to start a blog so that when Max is on his mission he can see pictures and find out what's going on with the family fast. The last time we took a family picture other than for a wedding was when my mom was pregnant with Bree over 10 years ago! Sad, huh? We plan to have one done around Max's farewell and then we'll put it up. Here's a bit of who each member of the family is:

Rock: I won't say his age. He loves the outdoors including fishing, hiking, riding horses (well, maybe not so much now that he was bucked off a horse and broke some ribs and tore something in his shoulder), camping, shooting and reading. You'll always find him reading weither it be a book, magazine or newspaper. He seems to be quite the fan of the WallStreet Journal. He's a great father who is patient, dedicated,non-judgemental, and puts others in front of himself. Something unique about Rock is that he had his own "Fan Club" in high school.

Melanie: I won't say her age either, but I will say that she isn't 49 as of Feb. 5, 2008. She is an incredible pencil sketch artist. She enjoys hunting, travel, and classic movies. She's a terrific mom who is willing to serve and help anyone and everyone, is kind-hearted and close to the Spirit! Something unique about Melanie is that she owns a cemetary

Jessica: Jessica is 28 and lives in Massachusetts. She enjoys swimming, blogging, playing with her kids, traveling and snowboarding. Something unique about Jessica is that she can put her whole fist in her mouth.

Max: Max is 19 and just received his call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to serve in the Vina Del Mar mission. He's really excited and thinks he won't come home with extra weight. HA! He loves the outdoors, animals, motorcycles, cars and driving fast! He is also becoming quite the photographer. Something unique about Max is that he severed both his tibia and fibia at the same time

Spencer: Spencer is 17 and will be senior in high school this coming year. He LOVES baseball and plays almost all year round. He enjoys other sports as well and is always watching ESPN. He enjoys , science, math and US history. Something unique about Spencer is that he has lose screws in his head. Literally.

Lane: Lane will be turning 14 soon and loves sports and looking good! He has done almost every sport you can imagine, but his favorite is football. He has started a program with the Airforce Academy called Civil Air Patrol. On the 19th he'll even get to fly a Cessna. Something unique about Lane is that he is the only one in the family who hasn't had to go see Dr. Muffley and he can ALMOST put his leg completely behind his head.

Bree: Bree is 10 and adores her little nieces and they think she is the coolest person there is! A unique thing about Bree is that even though she's only 10, she has already been to California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Illinois, Nevada, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana,Nebraska, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washinton D.C.

Dan: Dan is 27 and is Jessica's husband. He enjoys computers, snowboarding, photography, snowmobiling, golf and being a dad. Something unique about Dan is that he can fix a Rubix cube in under 4 minutes.

Mckenzie: Mckenzie is Jessica and Dan's 2 year old daughter. She loves books, music, swimming and riding her bike. She's an opprotunist who will find a way to do anything she wants! She has swam across the pool all by herself (with floaties).

Abigail: Abby is Jessica and Dan's 8 month old who loves to crawl, giggle and stick anything and everything in her mouth...especially plastic things. Yikes! Something unique about Abby is her adorable and chubby cheeks!
